Open-top down-draft gasifier

Page history last edited by jay 14 years, 8 months ago

Developed by Combustion, Gasification, and Propulsion Laboratory of Indian Institute of Science. More than 40 plants sucessfully operating in India and overseas. Design helpful in reducing tar in outgoing gas by introducing air both from the top and oxidation zones. Long residence time and higher temperatures ensuring the cracking of higher molecular weight tars by 're-burning' through "two" oxidation zones.

18-20% H2

18-20 %CO

2-3% CH4

12% CO2

2.5 % H2O

the rest N2

The lower calorific value of the gas ranges from 4.7 - 5 MJ/Nm^3. Stoichiometric requirement of 1.2 - 1.4 kg of air for every kg of producer gas.
