Here are all instructions for fabricating, assembling and running the GEK gasifier.  The instructions support a variety of build paths-- from complete DIY wood gas plans for scrap tank hacks, to assembling and firing the various APL kits.  CAD drawings of gasifier plans, plumbing inventories, hearth dimensions, and associated support material is provided below, split between the different GEK versions.  A complete library of all GEK CAD drawings for sheetmetal parts are on the main GEK site on the downloads page (v1.x variety) as well as below for the v2 and v3 equivalents.

Instructions for v3.x Kits:

  • First Run Start Up Instructions: Don't breathe the smoke!  Don't fill the hearth with raw biomass- use charcoal!  Don't forget to use charcoal as the filter media too (but smaller pieces)! Don't forget to set the nozzles at 2.5" above the reduction constriction!  Don't forget to use 1/4" nozzle caps.  Don't forget to pull the reactor up to around 5" of H2O of vacuum with the ejector/venturi gas drive!  Don't forget to shake the grate and unit to get/keep the fuel flowing!  Do these things and you will get good and clean gas on the first go!  If you get a mess, you likely have not done one of these things!  Now click here for the full run instructions!
